Voice Commands

Type a dot-command in chat — .buffme for a party buff, .invite to pull a sim in, .smartroam to argue with your party about where to hunt next.

on/off work anywhere enable/disable do.

Picking who

Commands that act on a sim (.invite, .inviteme, .dismiss) don’t take a name. Either:

  • Target the sim and type the command, or
  • Click the button on the dashboard — Nearby lists who’s around with an Invite button; the Party page lists your members.

With no target, .invite grabs the nearest invitable sim and .inviteme finds the nearest party with a free slot.

⚠️ .dismiss currently needs the dashboard button — typing it bare returns a usage message.

Under the hood

How a command reaches a sim

  1. You type it in chat. The client sends it like any other message.
  2. The dispatcher matches it against the registered commands.
  3. It resolves who you mean — your party, a nearby sim, or your own character.
  4. The sim acts on its next decision tick, rather than instantly.

That last step explains a command looking ignored for a moment: it is queued against the sim’s own loop, not executed inline.

Where this comes from

  • Design: docs/design/player-sim-commands.md.
  • Live code: shell/command/CommandDispatch.java registers and routes every dot-command.
